Supporting Your Practice

A Partnership to Inspire Wellness

It is a pleasure to introduce a valuable patient service to the surgical and rehab community.  A patient’s healing from surgery will be greatly enhanced with the addition of Peri-operative Therapy.  Combining a surgeon's post-operative care with Soulstice Peri-operative Therapy will allow patients to heal faster and feel more supported throughout their recovery.

Many surgeons realize the benefits of medically-based massage therapy as an added tool for post-operative rehabilitation. However, surgeons find it difficult to locate and refer their patients to a reputable and trustworthy massage therapy provider.

Peri-operative massage methods and techniques are not being taught in massage schools, and few therapists have gained the necessary knowledge and experience it takes to treat patients before and after surgery.  Physicians often are unfamiliar with Peri-operative Therapy and how it provides an ancillary resource to their patients.

Peri-operative Definition

Introducing Soulstice, Ltd.

Soulstice is a rehab partner for physicians to provide Peri-operative Therapy to their patients after any surgery. This specialty service directly enhances the surgical outcome of the patients by reducing pain and the need for pain medication. Our services will also decrease post-operative bruising, swelling and scarring while supporting patients through their recovery process. Overall, Peri-operative Therapy speeds recovery by supporting and encouraging the patients' physiological and psychological well-being.

How We Got Here

Kent Lemburg is a nationally board certified peri-operative and massage therapist and one of the managing members of Soulstice, Ltd. In 1995, Kent began a collaborative relationship with a Colorado plastic surgeon to provide massage therapy as post-operative rehabilitation for cosmetic surgery patients.

Ann Brooks is also a managing member of Soulstice, Ltd., peri-operative and massage therapist, massage therapy business educator and expert in health insurance reimbursement.  During Ann's massage therapy career, she has become specialized in treating reconstructive and elective surgery patients.

Since 2005 Soulstice has had the opportunity to work with thousands of patients locally and nationally. This experience has enabled Soulstice to further develop a Peri-operative Therapy healing program to include stretching, relaxation and self-massage techniques.

Men and women who have undergone cosmetic facial surgery, body contouring and cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgeries have benefited from Peri-operative Therapy. By observing most of these surgeries, Soulstice therapists comprehensively understand each procedure, whereby developing enhanced peri-operative manual techniques. We have expanded our specialty to include massage therapy rehabilitation of any surgical procedure such as orthopedic, OB/Gyn, dental and sinus procedures. We also treat workers’ compensation and auto accident injury patients.

Taking the Lead

Together, Kent and Ann developed The Fundamentals of Peri-operative Therapy continuing education course that meets the requirements and standards of our national certification board for continuing education (NCBTMB).

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, procedures have increased over the past ten years on an average of 300% to 500%. The top procedures are breast surgeries with breast lift (560%) and breast augmentation (533%) gaining the most popularity. Simultaneously, a large number of surgeons have entered the field of plastic surgery thus reducing the ratio of patient to surgeon.

With that in mind, patient care and customer service helps compliment the surgical experience and creates a competitive advantage. Providing Peri-operative Therapy to a surgeon’s surgical offerings or resources is one such way a surgeon may grow and maintain a market share advantage.
